Who we are

The Association for the Socio-Cultural Development of Women (Association pour le développement socioculturel de la femme, or ADSF) was established on January 23, 1981.

It was begun by women interested in helping other women reach their full potential in all aspects of their lives. ADSF is a non-profit Canadian corporation that aims to help women acquire intellectual, Christian and civic values, and to help them become more effective in all aspects of their lives. It is open to people of all backgrounds and faiths.

To fulfill its mission, ADSF offers an annual program of activities focused in three areas:

Mind

Courses, conferences, and meetings are offered dealing with family, work, and ethics. These promote the enrichment of one’s general culture, and also help one to deal with current societal challenges.

Heart and Will-Power!

The second aim is that of giving women and girls the tools to humanize their own daily environment, and to help them in their search for the good, the true and the beautiful. Activities are designed to lead to the practice of virtues such as patience, order, love of work well done, a sense of justice and responsibility, friendship, prudence, and loyalty.

Action

All this will lead to concrete action and a greater awareness of the needs of others, translated into generous self-giving, charitable activities, and sharing (such as volunteer visits to the poor, to the sick, and to the elderly).

Spiritual activities are entrusted to Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church.
